The Sammamish River Trail (SRT) is one of the most popular trails in King County’s 175-mile Regional Trails System. At nearly 11 miles, it connects the Burke-Gilman trail to Marymoor Park and offers extraordinary views of the river, the rolling Sammamish River Valley, the Cascade Foothils, and even Mount Rainier.

This very special place was a created by the employees of Brooks Sports, Inc, the Bothell-based running shoe company. The bronzed running shoes honor Liz Duncan, a Brooks employee who was hit by a car in 2007 and killed while out jogging. The SRT, which passes close to Brooks’ offices, was a favorite trail of Liz’s. Through the King County Parks Legacy Fund, the company, its employees, and friends and family of Liz honored her memory and offer a trail-side place of reflection that benefits the community.
