I’m freakin’ out, man!

Don’t let this happen to you.

To help ensure safety along our 175 miles of regional trails, King County Sheriff deputies will start patrolling trails on bicycle and foot this weekend.

Covering high traffic trails such as the Burke-Gilman, Sammamish River, and Cedar River, deputies will be issuing warnings and fines for observed violations, such as exceeding the 15 mile per hour speed limit, alcohol use, and leash laws. Read the press release here.

Help us keep the regional trails safe for everyone this summer by observing best trail etiquette!

  1. There’s a parallel tension between cyclists travelling faster than the limit on the trail hazarding pedestrians and cars doing the same on the roads. I think we’d be better served by police writing speeding tickets to car drivers on the road which could help divert fast cycle traffic off the trails.
