All good things must end, and so it goes for Pliny the Elder in Seattle. For reasons hard to accept, the California-based brewers of one of the most-popular double IPAs around have decided to end distribution of their hoppy wares beyond the borders of the Golden State. In other words, after the last few kegs have blow, you’ll need to travel 600 miles south for a Pliny.

The good people at the Noble Fir in Ballard, longtime friends of King County Parks, have deep in the recesses of their walk-in cooler just one scarce keg left of Pliny the Elder. They’ve decided to make the most of it by turning their final Pliny keg into a fundraiser for Parks.

Today, Jan. 22, beginning at 4 p.m., the Noble Fir will donate $1 of every pour of its last keg of Pliny the Elder to King County Parks. By doing what they do best (slaking thirsts of discerning beer nerds), they will help us do what we do best: Provide 26,000 acres of parks and open space, 175 miles of regional trails, 180 miles of backcountry trails and a whole lot more.
