Run, dance, dunk, and picnic your way to celebrate 50 years of Fairwood

This weekend, King County is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Fairwood community, near Renton in south King County.

This all-day, family-friendly event kicks off with a 5k run and walk. Registration opens at 8 am, race starts at 9 am.

In the afternoon, Petrovitsky Park (map) will be transformed into a festival featuring food, music, activities for kids and more.

In the evening, we’ll go “Back to the Future” with an outdoor movie. Bring your blankets and picnic baskets, and enjoy the show.

  1. It would be great if we could get more than 24 hours notice of events like this in case we wanted to actually make plans to attend. Thanks.
