Need a reason to get out and explore Your Big Backyard? Now, for the months of June and July, you can share photos on Instagram of your favorite places and win awesome prizes!

Here’s our step-by-step guide:

1. Get outside!

Visit any Regional Trail in King County (regional trails are the paved, wide trails like Burke-Gilman, Sammamish River, or East Lake Sammamish Trail – find more regional trails using TrailFinder!) and snap a photo while you explore.

2. Upload your photo

Tag your photo with #picturingtrails, @iheartkcparks and @kc4culture (make your account public so we can see your amazing shots!)

3. Post to Instagram

Tell us all about your view of the trail and post it.

4. Give yourself kudos for exploring Your Big Backyard!

The two photos with the most likes – one in June and one in July – will win an amazing prize package including a camera bag, water bottle, camping blanket and a pair of tickets to a concert at Marymoor!

Need a little inspiration? Come join our resident photographers at the Picturing Trails Walk + Talk this Saturday, June 9, at 11 a.m. at the Preston Community Center. Here they’ll talk about their craft and then head out on the trail with attendees for a hands-on workshop.
