We are excited to announce the awardees of our latest round of youth sports grants!! Read the news release here.
What are the youth sports grants, you ask?
In an effort to remove barriers and disrupt the cost-prohibitive pay-to-play model, our grants are aimed at providing resources to government agencies and non-profit organizations to support programs and capital investments that get youth physically active.
The grants range from $5,000 – for example, for a program that provides swim lessons – to $250,000 – for example, for new lighting on a ballfield.

Funding comes from a 1% tax on car rentals, coming to King County Parks to administer and distribute. In May 2019, we are awarding 36 grant recipients for a total of $2.4 million.
Aside from paying for capital projects, such as ballfields, pools, and skate parks, the funds will pay for programming, transportation, and scholarships.

We open the next grant round in January 2020.
Congratulations to our new grant partners, and we look forward to celebrating the good work being done to advance equitable access to youth sports!
