What Counts as a Valid Issue to Report?
We encourage you to report any issue you encounter in King County Parks. Every report is important and helps us maintain safe and enjoyable public spaces. Response times may vary depending on the nature of the issue and current projects underway.
To guide our response efforts, our operations team uses the following priority levels to evaluate incoming reports:
- Urgent: Safety hazards, blocked public access, or major infrastructure failures.
- High: Time-sensitive maintenance needs or issues related to aging assets approaching end-of-life.
- Medium: Situations that affect park or trail quality, aesthetics, or the expected level of service.
- Low: Non-urgent, wishlist items. These are desirable improvements but do not impact safety or service levels.
Examples of issues you can report to our team include, but are not limited to:
- ADA accessibility concerns
- Abandoned vehicles or shopping carts
- Graffiti and illegal dumping
- Tree hazards or overgrowth
- Roadkill, sewer odors, or noise complaints
- Trail, bike lane, and crosswalk maintenance
Tips to Submitting a Request
- In most cases, if SeeClickFix isn’t letting you post in your location, it is because your location is not in a King County owned property.
- Comments and images help us better evaluate a situation and distribute our crews accordingly.
What Goes on After I Click Submit?
Our Customer Service Specialists evaluate each SeeClickFix submission. They first confirm whether the reported location falls within a park maintained by King County. You can find King County-maintained parks through Backyard FunFinder. If the issue is within a King County-maintained area, our team sends an email directly to the supervisor responsible for that area. This email includes all relevant details, including photos or comments you provided. Photos and comments greatly help our team evaluate the urgency of an issue before dispatching crew members to the site. For urgent issues, our operations crew is pulled from their daily routine maintenance tasks and dispatched to the situation. For less urgent matters, the supervisor or a nearby crew may assess the situation. If the report comes in during the middle of the day or later, the inquiry is typically given to crew members during the next morning dispatch, when supervisors delegate the crew’s tasks.
Because some situations require specialized tools, teams, or additional crew members, not every issue can be resolved during the initial assessment. In such cases, our teams may implement temporary solutions like signs, caution tape, or cones. In some situations, full site closures with work zone barricades or fencing may be put in place.
Some urgent issues, such as a reported playground with a broken swing chain, pose a safety hazard and require more time to address. Our crew would remove the swing from use and isolate the area, then work with our CPSI-certified Playground Specialist for timely repairs.
Once the issue is resolved, the supervisor notifies our Customer Service Specialist, who then responds to your SeeClickFix inquiry to let you know the report has been addressed.
Big or small, every issue reported helps us maintain clean, safe, and enjoyable parks for all. Thank you for helping contribute to your big backyard!
