King County is updating its open space plan, which provides the policy framework for the county’s acquisition, development, stewardship, management, and funding of its 26,000-acre open space system.

The 2010 plan, King County Open Space Plan: Parks, Trails, and Natural Areas, updates the 2004 plan and reflects the many changes the the Parks and Recreation Division has undergone in recent years.

The plan also enables King County to be eligible for certain federal and state grants, such as from the state Recreation and Conservation Office.

The plan will be sent to the King County Council for final review, public comment, and adoption.
