This just in, with a big SPLASH: the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center (WKCAC) has been selected to host the 2012 US Olympic team dive trials!

This event, which will be televised nationally and take place June 18-24, 2012, determines which athletes go on to represent the USA at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. More than 100 of the country’s best divers will compete for spots on the US Team.

King County Parks received the good news at a press conference today, which featured representatives from USA Diving, Olympic Gold Medal Diver Laura Wilkinson, and the Seattle Sports Commission, along with Governor Christine Gregoire, King County Executive Dow Constantine, and Federal Way Mayor Linda Kochmar.

This is the second time WKCAC will host the Olympic dive trials, the first was held in 2000.
