Add this one to the boatload (pfffhahahaaaaaa) of issues we deal with here in parks.
We see a few abandoned boats every year between Dockton and Maury Island Park on Vashon Island that must be removed at a whale (can’t stop) of a cost to the public. They also prevent other boaters from docking and limit what we can collect in moorage fees to help keep parks clean, safe and open.
The P.I. just reported on this issue and how the state is working to pass legislation to discourage people from abandoning their vessels. So read up kids and “fair winds and following seas” for this legislation.
