Pardon our dust, we’re building 2 new bridges!
If you’ve been to Taylor recently, you might’ve noticed some things happening in the parking lot and along Road A and some other trails.
That’s because construction is underway to install two new bridges that will replace old, undersized culverts on the gravel road system.

Once this project is completed, Carey Creek will flow naturally in its stream bed. This much-anticipated work is important for enhancing fish habitat, as well as for reconnecting the trail system, especially after last year’s storms washed out part of the trail.

What to expect during construction
We expect the work to continue until mid-October.
During that time, there will be a lot of activity in the park, especially equipment and construction vehicles along Road A and in the parking lot. Starting Monday, August 23, we’ll be using about half of the parking lot for staging and storing construction materials. We expect the first bridge to be delivered around then too!
With so much construction activity happening on site, please use caution on the trails and respect all closed areas.
Here’s what to expect when you’re at Taylor over the next couple of months:
- Trails in the construction zone are closed for the duration of the project.
- Some trails will be closed during active construction work hours.
- Regular construction vehicle traffic will circulate in the parking lot, on Road A, and within the construction zone.
- Part of the parking lot will be used for staging (from approximately Aug 23 to Sept 15).
Work Hours: Mon – Fri | 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
This project is funded in part by the Non-Highway and Off-Road Vehicle Activities (NOVA) program and the voter-approved 2020-2025 King County Parks, Recreation, Trails, and Open Space Levy. Thanks for your support!
Taylor Trail Improvement Project
This work is the first part of several improvements we’ll be making to the trail network at Taylor Mountain as we work to make the trails sustainable for everyone who walks, runs, or rides at the park.
To learn what else is in store, read about the improvement project on our Taylor Mountain webpage and watch the video from our April 2021 virtual info session.
