A new home for the future Skyway Community Center

King County Parks and the Skyway Community Advisory Committee (SCAC) are excited to share a major update on the future home of the Skyway Community Center.

King County Parks has entered an agreement to purchase the former Skyway Park Bowl — a beloved mid‑century building located at the northwest corner of Skyway Park — with the intent to transform the 3.82‑acre property into a vibrant hub for community life.

Skyway Park Bowl was an iconic community presence for decades, and we’re honored by the opportunity to continue bringing the community together at this location.

Since 2023, King County Parks has been working with the Skyway community to plan a dedicated community center, originally envisioned for the south end of Skyway Park.

However, in fall 2025, an unexpected opportunity emerged when a new property owner of Skyway Park Bowl expressed willingness to sell. The SCAC and other community members strongly recommended pursuing this option. The Skyway Bowl location allows us to preserve green space at Skyway Park while creating a vibrant, conveniently located facility.

We expect to purchase the Skyway Park Bowl property by the end of May. This new location means that we will need to rework previous design concepts. At this stage, no decisions have been made about building design, programming, partnerships, or facility features.

The SCAC will continue working closely with the project team on all aspects as King County updates plans for the new site. Throughout the process, we’ll continue to offer multiple opportunities for community members to share ideas and help guide the design, features, and programs for the future Skyway Community Center.
