King County seeking comments on wood placement in rivers

6888347069_57a65e6b5a_oOur friends over in the Water and Land Resources Division of Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP) are seeking public comments on a draft rule that describes procedures for considering recreational safety when placing large woody debris in rivers. This stream restoration technique is done to improve habitat for fish and wildlife and stabilize stream banks.

Public meetings will be held January 25th in Issaquah and January 28th on Mercer Island. See the press release for meeting times and locations and check out this website for further details about the proposed rule. Written comments will be accepted through Feb 19, 2010.
