Drop it like it’s hot! First issue of ‘Out of the Box’ e-zine is hot off the press!

We are excited to kick off our first issue of a new, seasonal nature e-zine for the whole family to enjoy! The “Out of the Box” e-zine is designed to inspire kids and parents alike to:

1. Explore nature through discovery
2. Get outside & play
3. Dig into your curiosity
4. Live a fun & healthy life
5. Take care of ‘your big backyard’

Plus, there will always be a bonus coloring sheet on the back page. Pssst! Watch for future coloring contents and prizes – you heard it here first.

The learning materials included are seasonal in nature (pun intended), written to engage young readers and relevant to parents looking to find family-friendly activities offered by some of our awesome partners (REI and Movies @ Marymoor, for example).

We are also excited to formally introduce our King County Parks guru, Douglas E. Skwerrel. He’ll be bringing the extra quirkiness to our e-zine pages and answering questions from our littlest readers in future issues.

Meet Douglas E. Skwerrel

So go ahead, check it out and let us know what you think! Your feedback is extremely valuable to the growth and direction of this e-zine. You are invited to share your ideas for future content and if you know any outdoors related, rock-star blogging dads or moms that might be interested in contributing guest articles, please drop us a note at outofthebox@kingcounty.gov.
